At a Prime Minister's dinner hosted by the United Israel Appeal, Mark Leibler, chairman of the UIA, commended and congratulated National Australia Bank CEO Frank Cicutto for his support of the UIA and Israel. As Leibler put it, through the UIA's partnership with NAB, they have found "not just a partner in its work but also assist in making Judaism, Israel and Zionism more comprehensible and meaningful."

Considering the UIA's infamous portfolio of projects, from funding of illegal Israeli colonial settlements on Palestinian land, from the displacement that results from such settlements, to the further vitriol and rabid false propaganda about the Palestinian people and the Palestinian cause, NAB's partnership has made the Bank a partner in these illegal activities.

It is essential for us to make very clear that our money will not go to supporting illegal settlement building on Palestinian land. It is essential to make clear to Frank Cicutto that his support and his bank's support for the continued implementation and promotion of the Israeli apartheid system will not be done with our resources. So take an easy step in supporting the Palestinian people in their struggle against the Israeli occupation - CLOSE YOUR NAB ACCOUNT TODAY!

I am writing to inform you that I will be closing all my accounts with National Australia Bank in protest at NAB’s support of the state of Israel.

At a Prime Minister’s dinner by the United Israel Appeal, you, Frank Cicutto were congratulated by UIA chairman Mark Leibler for the great partnership NAB has with UIA, which has assisted to make ‘Judaism, Israel and Zionism more comprehensible and meaningful’.

The UIA has long been known to sponsor projects that enforce or aid in the dispossession of the Palestinian people, in direct violation of international law.

Your (and the bank’s) support for a state that continues to crush an entire people on the basis of their race and religion is a disgrace. I do not wish to assist the state of Israel to continue its brutal occupation of Palestinian land and I do not wish to assist the state of Israel to continue to build illegal settlements on Palestinian land. I demand that National Australia Bank end it and in accordance with human rights principles and United Nations resolutions which call for the end of the Israeli occupation and freedom and justice for Palestinians.
